How It Works
Dr. Hanson inserts a small silicone sac into the lips through one incision and then injects it with saline. The entire procedure takes 20 minutes and the patient is fully presentable within a week.
Patients obtain soft, natural-looking lips without any stiffness that accompanied earlier implants. A Teflon and Gore-Tex coating on the removable implant (which is half the thickness of a human hair) keeps it from shifting or hardening.
Unlike injectable fillers which typically dissipate within four to six months, these new implants by FulFil are permanent (yet can be easily removed and the saline volume adjusted).
Dr. Hanson fills the tiny saline implant inside of the shell. The implant has great elasticity because of the outer shell, which is slightly bigger than the implant. The implant is not connected to the outer shell except at the very tips of it. This allows greater movement of the implant with the movement of the patient's lips.
Dr. Hanson (facial plastic surgeon, Chicago, IL) was one of fewer than 15 surgeons in the U.S. to first perform the surgery.
